Evaluation of distress in structure is a complex exercise. To begin with, we perform condition surveys of the affected structure. A hypothesis as to the cause is evolved based on the evaluation and extend of damage. This defines the status of the structure. The hypothesis is then subjected to verification by partial and total non destructive field tests. Various parameters and indices (like carbonation depth, corrosion potential, integrity of the section, surface strenght, etc.,) of the health of concrete are defined.
